As of the FB2016_02 release, FlyBase has incorporated orthology data
from the DRSC Integrative Ortholog Prediction Tool
The DIOPT dataset integrates ortholog predictions for eight model organisms from ten individual tools.

In a new project led by the UK Medical Research Council-funded FlyBase members,
FlyBase is providing 'Gene Snapshots' within the D. melanogaster gene reports.
These are designed to provide a quick overview of the function of each gene's products.
We solicited draft summaries from members of the Drosophila community that have published on each gene,
and FlyBase curators then revised them for consistency.
We are very grateful to all those who responded to our requests,

It is time to cast your vote for new members of the National Drosophila Board of Directors.
The Board plays an important role in the Drosophila research community,
so please take a few moments to learn about the Board and participate in this election.
The Board's duties include overseeing community resource centers
and addressing other research and resource issues that affect the fly community.
The Board also administers the finances for the annual
North America Drosophila Research Conference and its associated awards,
and it chooses the organizers and the site of the annual meeting.

EXTENSIVE INPUT from the community of FlyBase users is invaluable.
In these days of competing demands for funds for research resources,
the importance of this demonstration of community support for FlyBase by completing
cannot be overstated. For both these reasons, we ask you to respond to
