How is 'intergenic' sequence found?

Postby ginreaper » Tue May 19, 2009 4:38 am

I am interested in obtaining co-ordinates of regions devoid of annotated transcripts. I could do this from the full list of transcripts but it seems it has already been done for the FASTA files entitled 'intergenic'.

Can someone confirm these intergenic regions are what they say they are and perhaps explain how they were deduced?

Yes they are what they say they are. See ... SO:0000605 for the definition and essentially the method we use to calculate these regions.
