Fly Technician

Dr. Sara Cherry in the Department of Microbiology at The University of Pennsylvania Medical School has an opening for a position of Senior Technician to carry out experiments in Drosophila model system with minimal supervision. Duties include but not limited to fly husbandary, microinjections of flies, genetic crosses, molecular biology techniques, microscopy. Some experiments require working with viruses. Additionally an individual has to perform general lab management, filing, inventory, and maintaining adequate supplies, reagents and instrumentation.

Candidates should be highly motivated, a Master's Degree or more required, and work experience with Drosophila is a must. General experience in molecular and cell biology is preferable, some microbiology/immunology background is a plus.
