Comments

The 2L:10247078..10272324 release 6 coordinates of the left breakpoint are estimates. The left extent corresponds to the right end of chico, which published results say is not deleted. The right extent corresponds to the right end of trk, which published results say is deleted.

The 2L:11013206..11169361 release 6 coordinates of the right breakpoint are estimates. The left extent corresponds to the left end of Samuel, which published results say is deleted. The right extent corresponds to the estimated position of the left end of band 32E1, because it is likely the breakpoint was seen to lie to the left of the 32E1,2 doublet band in reported polytene chromosome analyses.

This deletion removes multiple ribosomal protein-coding genes (in addition to other genes).

In combination with other aberrations

Df(2L)J39/+ heterozygote showed slight suppression of In(1)wm4 variegation.

NOT in combination with other aberrations

Flies heterozygous for the deletion show a Minute bristle phenotype.

Df(2L)J39 in combination with a pair of introgressions from D.simulans spanning 30F1-31E7 to 35D7-36A14 Dsim\Int(2L)S and 21A1 to 22D1--23A2 Dsim\Int(2L)D produces sterile male flies. These flies are female sterile.

Does not cause unconditional lethality in hybrid females when heterozygous with D.simulans chromosome.

Weak second site non-complementing phenotype with zipEbr and zipmhc-c6.1 : malformed phenotype penetrance 10-24%.

Deficient embryos show an uninterpretable mutant midgut phenotype.

Dominant female sterile Minute phenotype.

Other Comments

The Df(2L)J39 chromosome contains a lesion in the 21A region, in addition to the deficiency at 31D1-32E5.

"31C--D;32D--E" was stated as revision.
