The Df(2L)VA17 chromosome acts as a dominant weak suppressor of telomeric silencing (assayed using the effect of the chromosome on the eye colour phenotype of flies carrying "P{wvar}KR3-2", a stable "brown-red" variant of the P{3'WP-2,wvar}2Lt insertion), but this is a false positive result (the suppressor is not within the bounds of the deficient region) because the region of the deficiency is covered by one or more nonsuppressing deficiencies.
"37C1--2;37F5--38A11" was stated as revision. 37C1-37C2 breakpoint is between position +2.8 and +3.5 on the Ddc map relative to the HpaI restriction site near the 3' end of Ddc.
Distal breakpoint of Df(2L)VA17 maps within the Ddc gene.
"γ ray" was stated as tentative. "ethyl methanesulfonate" was stated as tentative.
