Df(2L)glu-17C mutant embryos have a lower ration of mitosis to apoptosis compared to wild-type embryos. This ratio decreases further with age. Df(2L)glu-17C suppresses PEV from the P{SUPor-P}D285 and P{SUPor-P}B947 insertions, enhances the PEV from the In(1)wm4h and P{hsp26-pt-T}118E-10 insertions and does not affect PEV from the P{SUPor-P}J448 and P{SUPor-P}C882 insertions.
