A set of ~800 largely isogenic deficiency stocks created by FLP-induced recombination between FRT-carrying transgenic insertions; molecularly defined deletion endpoints correspond to initial location of the progenitor insertions. Designed to fill gaps in deletion coverage and breakpoint placement; also used to replace older available deficiencies that have not been molecularly mapped.

Breakpoint from FlyBase's release 5 sequence location of progenitor insertion.
1 month old, but not 1 day old, Df(1)BSC589/+, Df(3L)BSC579/+ flies perform poorly in a climbing assay.
Df(1)BSC589/+, Df(3L)BSC579/+ flies restore an upright position instantly after mechanical stress, but then cease moving rather than climbing.
Inferred to overlap with: Df(3L)ED220.
Inferred to overlap with: Df(3L)BSC443.
The presence of P+PBac{XP5.RB3}BSC579 was verified using the PCR methods and primers described in FBrf0175003 with the substitution of the primer 5'-CCAATGCGTTTATTTCAGGTCACG-3' for the RB3' plus or RB3' minus primer in the Hybrid PCR protocol in the Supplementary Methods.
The cytological breakpoints of Df(3L)BSC579 predicted from the Release 5 genomic coordinates of the progenitor PBac{RB}e04048 and P{XP}roqd08799 transposable element insertions sites are 72D12;72E4.
