Bristles one-half to two-thirds normal length, blunt, thicker and beaded in outline. Posterior scutellars often cross and adhere to body. Eyes somewhat larger and rougher. Overlaps wild type when reared at 20oC (Ashburner, unpublished). Probably affects nature of bristle secretion, particularly outer layer (FBrf0005679; FBrf0006412). Viability of heterozygote is good but erratic; homozygotes usually lethal; survivors female sterile with roughish eyes. RK1 as dominant.
