Enhanced cell death is seen in the filzkorper precursor cells of stage 11 mutant embryos compared to in wild type.

ctdb7 mutant follicle-cell clones exhibit larger nuclei than their wild-type neighbours. The numbers of cells in the mutant clones are significantly lower than in the sister wild-type clone. Typically, 2-8 cells are found in each ctdb7 mutant cell clone, compared to a 2- to 5-fold greater number of cells in the wild-type clone. ctdb7 clones, in which ct function is lost during early oogenesis, are driven to differentiate earlier than in wild-type cells, indicating ct is required to maintain the follicle cells in mitosis.

Homozygous embryos show transformation of external sensory organs into chordotonal organs.

Extra nub expressing multidendritic (md) neurons are seen in mutant embryos. There are usually two ectopic nub expressing neurons in the dorsal cluster, and two in the lateral cluster.

The stigmatophore protrudes normally but the spiracular chamber is defective in that the filzkorper is almost missing, the trachea is still connected to the spiracular chamber and the spiracular hairs are also missing.

The identity of the AS-C-dependent md neurons has changed to what seems to be characteristic of a subset of at-dependent md neurons.

In ctdb7, domeG0468, Df(2L)32FP-5 (deficiency for sal) triple mutants, no obvious spiracle structures remain, but the trachea still joins to the outside.

Quadruple ctdb7, Df(2L)32FP-5 (deficiency for sal), ems2, domeG0468 mutants are missing spiracle structures completely.

capuHK3 does not interact with ctdb7 in a doubly heterozygous background, although it does enhance the frequency of binucleate cell production in the egg chambers of ctdb7/ctL188 animals. chick13321/+ does not interact with ctdb7/ctL188. ctdb7 produces egg chambers with binucleate cells in double heterozygous combination with a number of deficiencies; Df(1)JC70, Df(1)RA2, Df(1)KA14, Df(1)N105, Df(1)JA26, Df(2L)30A-C, Df(2R)44CE, Df(2R)eve, Df(2R)or-BR6, Df(2R)M60E, Df(3L)GN50, Df(3L)GN24, Df(3L)66C-G28, Df(3L)AC1, Df(3L)W4, Df(3R)Antp17, Df(3R)P14 and Df(3R)Tl-P.
