Detailed Description
| |||
Statement Reference Expression of dapGMR.PdN transgene in CycA5 flies has no effect on the eye phenotype. In mutant embryos, the ganglion mother cells, GMC1-1a and GMC4-2a fail to divide into their normal progeny. The non-dividing GMC1-1a and GMC4-2a cells are larger than normal and sit where its offspring should normally be and appear to adopt aCC and RP2 neuron fates respectively. A loss of approximately 20% of EL neurons is also seen. Tracheal branches in many CycA5/Df(3L)vin3 embryos form with half the normal number of cells, yet have normal diameters and lengths.

Genetic Interactions
| |||
Statement Reference Dominantly restores 81% of ommatidia of rux3 to wild type. Dominantly enhances the rough eye phenotype of CycEJP homozygotes. One copy of CycA5 has no effect on the reduction in the number of cells entering S phase posterior to the morphogenetic furrow seen in CycEJP homozygotes. One copy of CycA5 enhances the reduction in the number of mitotic cells posterior to the morphogenetic furrow seen in CycEJP homozygotes. Cells in the dorsolateral epidermis arrest prematurely in G2 of cycle 15 in CycA5/CycBunspecified embryos. The nuclear density in these embryos is also halved. The lethality seen in dally06464 homozygotes is reduced if they are also heterozygous for CycA5. The penetrance of the eye, antenna and wing defects seen in dally06464 homozygotes is reduced if they are also heterozygous for CycA5.
