d1/dGC13 transheterozygote third instar larvae have smaller eye and wing discs compared to wild-type.

Mutants show planar cell polarity defects in the wing.

d1 adults have shortened wings; this phenotype is most evident in the centre of the wing due to the reduced distance between the crossveins. Counting hairs between these crossveins shows that there is a reduction in cell number as well as the decrease in length.

d1/d210 and d1/Df(2L)N22-5 adult wings show ectopic crossveins but lack the anterior crossvein. d1/dGC13 animals also show extra or missing crossveins.

d1 adults have shortened legs, but do not show the leg disc eversion phenotype that stronger d alleles show.

d1 clones generated in the wing are of a normal size and shape.

Joint remnants sometimes persist beneath the cuticle.

Number of longitudinal rows of bristles in second basitarsus unaffected, but number of bristles per row reduced.

Legs short and held close to body. Femur, tibia and tarsae foreshortened.

Labial legs in d1; pbunspecified flies show failure of joint formation.

Tarsi four jointed instead of five jointed owing to failure of joint formation between second and third tarsal segments. Femur, tibia and tarsae foreshortened. Legs short and held close to body. Probability of failure of joint formation proportional to degree of foreshortening of second tarsal segment. Joint failure phenotype can extend into d1/+ tissue adjacent to d1/d1 clones.

Leg effects enhanced by ssa and ssaB.

Similar to fj mutant phenotype. Wings smaller than wild type, narrowed, with L2 and L3 joined near anterior crossvein; distance between crossveins smaller and crossveins sometimes absent. Angle between L2 and L5 greater than normal. Eyes small and rough. Posterior scutellar bristles erect. Enhances transforming effects of AntpNs and pb mutants. Viability erratic. Frequently sterile. RK2.

d1 suppresses the wing disc overgrowth seen in dco3 mutant larvae.

ft8, d1 double mutant clones generated in the wing are normal in size and shape like d1 single clones, while ft8 single mutant clones are abnormally large and round.
