Pupal lethal when heterozygous with the MBT chromosome.

Single cells from N55e11 embryos transplanted into the ventral neurogenic region of host embryos derived from dl2 mothers give rise to neural cells in 91% of cases.

When in trans with Df(2L)TW119 the transgene P{Dipt2.2-lacZ} is not induced.

Strong dorsalization at 22oC: loss of ventral epidermis.

Embryos derived from dl2 mothers are incompletely dorsalised.

Embryos derived from homozygous females are dorsalised.

Double mutants N55e11 and Dl9P with dl2 had neuralization of additional ectodermal cells in the thoracic and abdominal segments. Double mutants N2 and N3 with dl2 gave slight neuralization of the cephalic epidermis.

Many of the melanotic nodules seen in cact7 dl2 double mutant larvae are of hematopoietic origin; they are located in the hemocoel and lymph glands and consist of large, flat F-actin-rich lamellocytes or both lamellocyte and plasmatocyte-like cells. Melanotic agglomerates containing different tissue types are not seen in the double mutants (in contrast to cact7 single mutants).
