dppd6/dppd14 flies are viable and have small wings.

dppd6/dppd14 wings are rescued by the expression of dppScer\UAS.cSa.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1 except for ectopic vein materials around longitudinal vein L3.

The size and morphology of dppd6/dppd14 mutant wings are almost completely rescued by the expression of dppMFSI.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 via Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1 except for ectopic vein material around L3.

The size and morphology of dppd6/dppd14 mutant wings are almost completely rescued by the expression of dppMFSI.III.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 via Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1 except for ectopic vein material around L3.

The size of some DO1 muscles, particularly in the sixth row of somatic muscles, is reduced in mutant embryos and the space between the DO1 and DO2 muscles is expanded compared to wild type.

The genital disc is severely reduced in dppd12/dppd14 larvae.

Heterozygotes of dppd12 and dppd14 have the distal leg structures missing.

medulla neuropil ommatidia In dppd12/dppd14 flies the medulla neuropil is reduced to a size similar to that produced by inactivating wg prior to 44hr AEL. The number of ommatidia is correspondingly reduced.

dppd6/dppd14 clones are associated with defects in the wing, but not the notum. dppd6/dppd14 clones in the posterior compartment are associated with normal venation.

In dppd12/dppd14 heterozygotes all imaginal discs are extremely reduced, die as early pupae. Imaginal disc transplantation demonstrates that only the anterior notum and most of the proximal anterior wing margin are produced. Wing discs do not have regenerative capacities.

dpp class V allele.

Two copies fail to rescue defects of class V heterozygote dppd12/dppd14, individuals fail to form cuticle, most do not eclose from the pupal case, those that do have near full size wings and some legs are missing tarsal segments.

Clonal analysis shows a requirement for dpp+ function in cells adjacent to the anterior-posterior compartment boundary of the wing primordium.

Remove most or all of the imaginal disc function of dpp.
