Detailed Description
| |||
Statement Reference females produce few if any eggs. temperature-sensitive recessive female-sterile Viability good at 29oC but ovaries of homozygous females severely atrophied, probably with tumorous follicles. At 25oC cysts contain 16 nurse cells and no oocyte; females fertile when raised at 23oC. Mosaic studies indicate germ-line function of gene (Perrimon and Gans, 1983). At the non-permissive temperature homozygous females lay no eggs. Previously the females were described as having severely atrophied ovaries at 29oC and at 23oC females are fertile (FBrf0039483). Now females are sterile between 18oC and 29oC. SxlK1274-1/Sxlf1 individuals are lethal. Double homozygous snf- SxlK1274-1 females are semi-lethal and survivors have tumorous egg chambers. | |||
