Homozygous intestinal stem cell clones lose self-renewing capacity over time, and fail to form large clones at 14 days after clone induction, in contrast to wild-type controls.
Mutant embryos show normal boundary cell differentiation in the hindgut.
Heterozygotes show shortening of wing vein L5.
H3/H1 flies have a loss of Sensory Organ Precursors (SOP), and thus in nearly bald pharate adults. Remaining SOPs mainly give rise to quadruple sockets. In H1/HP8 flies a complete transformation of all external sensory organ neurons into sheath cells.
H1/H2 flies produce nota that are bald.
Small L5 gap phenotype at low penetrance in heterozygotes.
Dorsal hairs are sparse compared to wild type. Denticle belts are normal.
Terminal gaps in LIV and LV and occasionally short terminal gaps in LII and LIII.
Strongly enhanced expression of "NAx" alleles.
Mutant flies show shortening of at least one and sometimes more of: wing veins L2, L4 and L5 and the posterior crossvein.
Bristles, especially postverticals and abdominals, missing in heterozygous H1 flies. Bristle sockets present at some sites, not at others. Expressed most distinctly on head; occipital; postvertical and ocellar bristles affected. Veins L4 and L5 do not reach wing margin; occasionally true of L2 also. Recessive lethal. Homozygotes die during larval and pupal stages Animals surviving to pharate adult are completely devoid of macrochaetes and microchaetes on the head and notum, with occasional 'double sockets' remaining on the abdominal tergites. Bristles on the legs significantly resistant to loss of H+ function.

The reduction in wing area seen in flies expressing pzgdsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E is suppressed by NAx-M1/+ or H1/+.
The ectopic wing veins seen in nmoadk2 flies are completely suppressed by H1. The loss of bristles on the head and notum seen in H1/+ flies is dramatically enhanced by nmoadk1/nmoadk1 or nmoadk1/nmoadk2.
The addition of H1 suppresses the wing nicking phenotype seen in mamN.Scer\UAS, Scer\GAL4C96 flies producing a range of phenotypes.
Heterozygous vein L5 gap phenotype is enhanced by hetero- and homozygotes for Su(dx)sp which also enhances the bristle loss phenotype of H1.
Enhances the transformation of the trichogen to a tormogen fate in the notal macrochaetae caused by DlScer\UAS.cJa expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4l(3)31-1-31-1. Widespread transformation of microchaetae is also seen in this background.
Enhances the microchaetae and macrochaetae loss phenotype of N gain of function heterozygotes.
The lethality of Dl1 RpS31 heterozygotes is partially suppressed by H1.
