What does this section display?
This section contains items that were added to this record for each release. It currently only tracks new links between this FlyBase report and other FlyBase data classes (e.g. genes, references, stocks) or controlled vocabulary terms (e.g. GO, anatomy terms).
What does this section not display?
This section does not currently display links that were removed or gene model changes.

Statement
Reference
Tracheal metameres in remaining 5 abdominal segments develop many aspects of a wild type branching pattern. Phenotype is much less disrupted than that of Df(3L)ri-XT1, where both kni and knrl are deleted.
Homozygotes with one copy of Res1 show partial rescue, one or two additional abdominal segments are present. kni3/kni8 transheterozygotes are viable.
Defective in gonad assembly.
Abdominal segments A1 to 7 are fused andreplaced by a single segment, segment 8 is normal.
Strong phenotype.

hide Complementation & Rescue Data
Partially rescued by
Comments
kni8 fails to complement kniri-1 when it is carried on a chromosome such as TM3 or In(3LR)LD6 that is rearranged with respect to the kni8 mutant chromosome. kni8 fully complements kniri-1 when the kniri-1 and kni8 alleles are carried on non-rearranged chromosomes.
Mutant abdominal phenotype of kni8 embryos can be rescued by knitRa but head defects are only weakly rescued.
