Heterozygous adults have normal abdominal segmentation.
When homozygous somatic clones are induced, none are seen to survive to adulthood.
skdpap-1/MED17s2956 is an enhancer of labial segment phenotype of pb5/pb4

MED17s2956, skdpap-53 and MED17s2956, ScrP flies occasionally exhibit an ectopic distal sex comb on the T1 leg. MED17s2956, ScrP, skdpap-53 flies exhibit a stronger ectopic distal sex comb phenotype than any of the double mutant combinations. The addition of a combination of skdpap-1 and MED17s2956 enhances the transformation phenotype seen in the labium of pb4/pb5 flies. Instead of transformation to antennal structures, a transformation to T1 leg structures (including sex comb teeth and claws) is seen.
