Pp1-87B[1] heterozygous embryos appear wild-type and hatch normally.
Pp1-87B1/Pp1-87B87Bg-3 animals die during pupariation, and until pupariation, do not lag behind in development compared to their control siblings.
Homozygotes and heterozygotes show no muscle detachment or indirect flight muscle phenotypes.
Suppresses the position effect variegation at the w locus caused by In(1)wm4 and suppresses the position effect variegation at the bw locus caused by In(2R)bwVDe2 and Byron. Also suppresses the position effect variegation of w seen in the P{wAR}41A insertion.
Strong suppressor levels of position effect vareigation and normal mitosis in neuroblasts or ganglion mother cells.
Dominant suppressor of position effect variegation at the w locus caused by In(1)wm4h.
shows some reduction in viability in trans heterozygotes with some alleles of l(3)87Bg; in one case a clear maternal effect is noted.

Embryos laid by flies heterozygous for mars[1] and Pp1-87B[1] show a significantly reduced hatch ratio.
Pp1-87B1/Pp1-87B87Bg-3 Pp1α-96A2/Pp1α-96A2 double mutant animals die slightly earlier than Pp1-87B1/Pp1-87B87Bg-3 single mutants and pupariate 1-2 days later than their siblings.
Expression of Nop17l[Scer\UAS.T:Zzzz\His6,T:Hsap\MYC] under the control of Scer\GAL4[Bx-MS1096] in Pp1-87B[1]/+ wings results in severely crumpled and reduced wings.
The modest wing overgrowth phenotype caused by expression of putScer\UAS.cMa under the control of Scer\GAL4vg.PM is enhanced by Pp1-87B1/+.
Pp1-87B[1] dominantly suppresses the transformation of wing to haltere seen in trx[1]/trx[E2] flies; 31% show strong transformation, 39% show weak transformation and 30% show no transformation. Pp1-87B[1] dominantly suppresses the transformation of wing to haltere seen in trx[1]/trx[B11] flies; 27% show strong transformation, 24% show weak transformation and 49% show no transformation.
Flies expressing NiPp1Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP under the control of Scer\GAL4vg.PM which are also carrying Pp1-87B1 have crumpled wings.
The effect of loss of one copy of Pp1-87B1 cannot be rescued by P element mediated transformation with Su(var)3-7.
