Used as assay for early dosage compensation in Sxl hypomorphic mutants. Males do not express Sxl, predicting that run25 should have the same phenotype in males irrespective of which loss of function Sxl allele they carry. However the distribution of run25 mutant phenotypes in males varies indicating it is sensitive to genetic background.
The expression of l(1)sc is altered during stage 9 in homozygous mutant embryos.
