Embryos exhibit neither CNS or PNS defects.
sph1/Df(1)17-87 flies overlap wild-type at 24-25oC. At 29-30oC, sph1/Df(1)17-87 flies show sparseness of thoracic hairs, variable eye roughening, extension of the wings and incision of the wing margins.
Thoracic hairs are sparse in sph1/Df(1)17-87 hemizygotes and sph1/sph22 flies, variable roughening of the eyes is seen, wings are extended and the wing margins are incised. The phenotype overlaps wild type at 24-25oC, but at 29-30oC all sph1/Df(1)17-87 flies show the mutant phenotype.
Maternal germline clonal analysis demonstrates abnormal oogenesis, collapsed eggs and some look normal.
