All su(Hw)2/su(Hw)e04061 mid-oogenesis egg chambers exhibit apoptosis, which is only rarely observed in controls.

3 days-old su(Hw)2/su(Hw)e04061 testes show disorganized individualization complexes, a bulge at the end of the testes, reduced sperm production and small seminal vesicles.

su(Hw)2/Df(3R)su(Hw)-A1933 transheterozygotes are viable but female sterile and also lack the gypsy insulator function (assayed through body, wing and bristle phenotypes induced by mutations in the y, ct and f genes).

su(Hw)2 cancels the effect of mod(mdg4)ul on trans repression of y gene expression.

Suppresses oblique truncated wing of rsP1 and rsP2.

Phenotype of abd-Aiab2-K is suppressed.

Low viability.

su(Hw)2/su(Hw)7 heterozygotes almost completely suppress the "Hw" phenotype acHw-1+R5, extra macrochaetae are seen on the pleura and postnotum. This was accompanied by a 2--3 fold reduction of ac RNA, sc RNA levels were unchanged. A positive correlation can be seen between increased levels of ac transcripts and the appearance of the "Hw" phenotype.

The mid-oogenesis apoptosis observed in su(Hw)2/su(Hw)e04061 transheterozygotes is not suppressed by HIPP1Δ37/HIPP1ΔDsR.

HIPP1Δ37/+, su(Hw)2/+ males are fertile.

The scme bristle phenotype is strongly suppressed by su(Hw)2/su(Hw)V. The sclx1 bristle phenotype is not affected by su(Hw)2/su(Hw)V.

Completely suppresses y2 and its partial revertants. Dominantly suppresses the enhancing effect of mod(mdg4)ul on y2 : increases pigmentation in the body, wings and bristles of the thorax, leg, abdomen and wing. Completely suppresses the scD1 mutant phenotype.

su(Hw)2/su(Hw)7 heteroallelic combination strongly suppresses gypsy insertions.

Effect on rsP1 is recessive. Effect on rsP2 is semidominant. Suppression not temperature-dependent as previously reported (Cramer DIS 55:197 ).

Suppresses a number of mutations caused by gypsy element insertion, such as y2, sc1, ct6, ctMR2, ctMRpN1 and Bx2, in transheterozygous combination with su(Hw)u1 or su(Hw)u2.

The female sterility phenotype and the loss of gypsy insulator function (assayed through body, wing and bristle phenotypes induced by mutations in the y, ct and f genes) caused by su(Hw)2 is not complemented by su(Hw)A2663 and partially complemented with either su(Hw)A460 or su(Hw)M393 (both a separation-of-function allele), which restore either the female fertility or the insulator function, respectively.
