The addition of either homozygous fafBX4, or fafBX4/fafFO8 suppresses the physiological phenotype of hiwunspecified, leading to a more tha doubling of both quantal content and mEJP frequency. However the synaptic overgrowth phenotype is not affected.
The extra outer photoreceptor cell phenotype is suppressed by pnt1277 : fafBX4 ; pnt1277 double homozygotes have an average of 6.2 outer photoreceptor cells per ommatidium. The extra outer photoreceptor cell phenotype is dominantly suppressed by pntΔ88, by 14-3-3ζE16 and also by JraIA109. The extra outer photoreceptor cell phenotype is dominantly enhanced by aopyan-1 : aopyan-1/+ ; fafBX4/fafBX4 flies have an average of 8.7 outer photoreceptor cells per ommatidium. Does not alter the outer photoreceptor cell phenotype of phl12/Y males. 60% of sev14; fafBX4 double homozygous ommatidia have an R7 cell.
