      First longitudinal wing vein split, follows the route of the second vein up to the level of the anterior crossvein where it turns toward the margin, branching twice. Third longitudinal vein is no longer attached to L1. Heterozygote viable.
      Mutants show a spur from L1 that runs further than L1 does normally, most apparent at the base of the wing.
      Adv[1]/+ flies exhibit fusion between L1 and L2 via a bridge of ectopic vein at approximately same proximal-distal position as the anterior cross-vein.

      While complementation data indicate that the recessive lethality of In(2R)Adv is due to disruption of en, en expression appears normal in heterozygotes, suggesting that the dominant "additional vein" phenotype of this inversion is not due to its effects on en.
