Deficient for band 3C7.
cuticle & macrochaeta | somatic clone
Heterozygous N264-39 flies show mild wing margin notching in the distal region in about half of the wings.
Females heterozygous for N264-39, compared with wild-type, show a reduction in germarium cap cells 7 days after eclosion .
Heterozygous N264-39 wings have a mild notched wing margin, bristle loss, and slight vein thickening near the wing blades.
Stage 13 mutant male embryos have a normal number of somatic gonadal precursor cells. However, the gonads of mutant first instar male larvae lack hub cells.
The number of corpora cardiaca (CC) cells is increased in mutant stage 17 embryos compared to wild type. The CC cell lineage does not develop precociously in the mutant embryos, but multiple gl-positive CC precursors are detectable in the mutant embryos at early stage 11 (in contrast to the pair of single precursor cells seen in wild-type embryos at this stage).
Heterozygotes have a notched wing phenotype.
Zygotic N264-39 mutant embryos display a massive expansion of neuronal cells in the entire ectodermal tissue.
Flies heterozygous for N264-39 have smaller eyes than wild-type flies, but their head capsule appears of normal size.
The number of cap cells and germline stem cells in the ovaries of 2 day old heterozygous females is significantly reduced compared to wild type.
Approximately 36.36% of heterozygous N264-39 flies exhibit a haploinsufficient phenotype of wing notching at the posterior margins.
Heterozygotes show notching of the wing margin at the anterior-posterior border.
Heterozygotes have a nicked wing margin phenotype.
Boundary cells of the hindgut fail to develop in mutant embryos.
Cause a complex pleiotropic syndrome including perturbations of the chaetae pattern.
Mutation causes overproduction of glioblasts.
Homozygous clones in the eye have a severely disturbed ommatidial pattern, visible as a scar in the eye surface. Ommatidia are larger than wild-type and interommatidial bristles are missing. Each ommatidium contains more retinula cells and fewer pigment cells than wild-type. Each ommatidium contains more receptor cells than normal, and may contain up to 13 receptor cells. Homozygous clones in the cuticle lack all bristles. Homozygous mutant clones in the eye are smaller and less frequent than the corresponding control clones.
Extreme embryonic neurogenic phenotype.

Combination of Scer\GAL4bbg-C96>e(y)1dsRNA.Scer\UAS.cUa and N264-39/+ results in a synergistic enhancement of the notched wing phenotype in terms of both penetrance and expressivity.
Although e(y)1190 heterozygous flies do not show any visible wing defects, e(y)1190/+ greatly enhances the wing margin notching phenotype of N264-39/+ in both expressivity and penetrance.
Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096-mediated expression of NdfipScer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 suppresses the N264-39/+ wing phenotypes.
Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096-mediated expression of NdfipKK108770 enhances the wing margin notching and slight vein thickening near the wing blade seen in N264-39/+ wings.
Heterozygosity for N264-39 suppresses the overgrowth of the adult eye and head that occurs in animals with somatic clones of Vps25N55 generated in the eye-antennal disc.
Heterozygosity for N264-39 does not suppresses the rough-eye phenotype that occurs in animals with somatic clones of Vps36L5212 generated in the eye-antennal disc.
Heterozygosity for N264-39 suppresses the overgrowth of the adult eye and head that occurs in animals with somatic clones of lsn5F3-8 generated in the eye-antennal disc.
The wing notching phenotype seen in N264-39/+ flies is enhanced by expression of Pi3K68DKD.Scer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL469B, but is not enhanced by expression of Pi3K68DScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL469B.
Df(3L)vin3/+ enhances the wing notching phenotype seen in N264-39/+ flies.
Df(3R)Pi3K92EA/+ has no effect on the wing notching phenotype seen in N264-39/+ flies.
The nicked wing phenotype seen in N264-39/+ flies is suppressed by Nedd4T119FS/+.
Dominantly enhances the eye-polarity phenotype of fzhs.sev; most fzhs.sev ommatidia show R3/R3-type symmetry in a N264-39 heterozygous background. Dominantly enhances the eye-polarity phenotype of dshhs.sev.B.
A N264-39 heterozygous background suppresses the eye deformities, eye curvature, patterning of the photoreceptor nuclei later, and phototactic behavior seen in flies expressing Hsap\CHMP2BIntron5.Scer\UAS.N.T:Zzzz\FLAG under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PH.
N264-39 is partially rescued by Scer\GAL4prd.RG1/NUAS.GFP
Expression of N3.hs.T:Scer\GAL4,T:Hsim\VP16 using three 40 minute heat shocks starting at 8-9 hours after egg laying does not rescue hub cell number in the gonads of male N264-39 larvae. However, expression of N3.hs.T:Scer\GAL4,T:Hsim\VP16 using three 40 minute heat shocks starting at 5-6 hours after egg laying results in significant rescue of hub cell number in the gonads of male N264-39 larvae, with almost half of the animals reaching the wild-type range of hub cells.
Expression of NScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP under the control of Scer\GAL4prd.RG1 greatly reduces the amount of neuronal cells in N264-39 mutants.
Slizynska, 1937.
Arose on: wch.
Originally reported as a deficiency of band 3C7 (FBrf0004288). Later reexamination of chromosomes of males from lines carrying wch and marked N264-39 revealed the presence of 3C7 (Welshons)
Cytological examination reveals that this mutant chromosome is no longer cytologically deficient.
