Description
What does this section display?
This section contains items that were added to this record for each release. It currently only tracks new links between this FlyBase report and other FlyBase data classes (e.g. genes, references, stocks) or controlled vocabulary terms (e.g. GO, anatomy terms).
What does this section not display?
This section does not currently display links that were removed or gene model changes.

Statement

Homozygous and spzD1-RPQ/spz4 larvae have significantly higher levels of muscle defects than wild-type larvae.
Affected embryos are dorsalized.
Mutant embryos respond to injected purified polarizing activity (spz), but lack polarizing activity themselves.

The ventralized phenotype that causes the failure of cuticle differentiation in embryos from Spn27A1/Df(2L)BSC7 mothers is abolished when mothers also have the mutant genotype spzD1-RPQ/Df(3R)Tl-D. Such embryos have a dorsalized phenotype that is indistinguishable from those produced by single mutant spzD1-RPQ/Df(3R)Tl-D mothers.
Perivitelline fluid from embryos laid by spzD1-RPQ/Df(3R)Bd females does not show axis-inducing activity when injected into the perivitelline space of embryos derived from pip1/pip2 females.
