Statement
Reference
Abnormal eye phenotype. Differentiating photoreceptor neurons in the eye imaginal discs of late third instar disappear from the centre of the eye disc and those remaining at the periphery are irregularly arranged.
Ommatidia are present in two separate masses on the dorsal and ventral rims of the eye. Pigmented tissue forms a crescent in these areas. Rough cuticularised tissues with scattered bristles and hairs are seen medially to these areas. Necrosis of the eye discs starts during third larval instar.
