In second instar wing discs, wg expression, as assayed by Ecol\lacZwg-en11 expression, accumulates in the disc epithelium proper in a wedge of ventro-anterior cells. At early to mid third instar, Ecol\lacZwg-en11 begins to exhibit expression along the dorsal/ventral compartment boundary of the wing disc.
Reporter expression is detected is detected in the circular muscles that envelope gut epithelia.

Staining becomes faint on the anterior side of the tubules andin the tip cells during germ band shortening suggesting that expressionbecomes limited to the cells on the posterior side of the tubules asdevelopment proceeds.
