kisLM27/kisk13416 third instar larvae do not show gross defects in muscle morphology. Muscle 6 area is normal and the number of boutons per muscle 6/7 neuromuscular junction (NMJ) is not significantly different from wild type. The total number of synaptic branches per muscle 6/7 NMJ is significantly increased compared to wild type.

Muscle 6 area, number of boutons per muscle 6/7 NMJ and total number of synaptic branches per muscle 6/7 NMJ are normal in homozygous kisk13416 larvae.

Homozygous kisk13416 and kisLM27/kisk13416 third instar larvae show a significant decrease in both evoked excitatory junctional current (eEJC) amplitude and in miniature EJC amplitude at the neuromuscular junction compared to controls. mEJC frequency is not significantly different from controls. Quantal content is significantly reduced.

kisk13416 mutant germline clones show oogenesis arrest and oocyte mislocalisation.

Polytene chromosomes of homozygotes sometimes appear slightly thinner than normal, but their overall morphology and banding pattern is not significantly altered from wild type.

Lethality occurs during third instar larval or pupal stages. Mutants do not show any visible disc abnormalities.

Genetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

The formation of ectopic wing veins observed in adult flies expressing Marcal1Scer\UAS.cBa under the control of Scer\GAL4tub.PU is not affected by combination with a single copy of kisk13416.

One copy of kisk13416 strongly suppresses the detached posterior crossvein phenotype seen when DysdsRNA.NH2.Scer\UAS is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4Act.PU but produces extra wing vein material.

One copy of kisk13416 strongly suppresses the detached posterior crossvein phenotype seen when DysdsRNA.C.Scer\UAS is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4tub.PU but produces extra wing vein material.

One copy of kisk13416 in a DysE6/+ background results in posterior crossvein defects.

One copy of kisk13416 enhances the posterior crossvein phenotype seen when DgdsRNA.Scer\UAS is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4tub.PU.

A kisk13416 heterozygous background gives a dominant mild enhancement to the ato1090/Df(3R)p13 eye phenotype at 25[o]C.
