Expression of dppScer\UAS.cFa under the control of Scer\GAL4bi-md653 leads to the appearance of wing-like bristles and trichomes on the haltere.

Clones expressing dppScer\UAS.cFa under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PP in the anterior portion of the eye disc initiate ectopic morphogenetic furrows (MFs) and premature photoreceptor cell differentiation. The ectopic MF forms a circle that grows outward in a concentric progression, creating a growing patch of photoreceptors within it. Glial cell migration towards the anterior patch of photoreceptors is sometimes seen. In these cases, the patch of photoreceptors is large and located in close proximity to the main body of photoreceptors. The number of glial cells reaching the anterior patches is small compared with areas of the same size in the posterior of the eye disc. In all cases where there is glial cell migration towards the anterior patches of photoreceptors, the anterior photoreceptors have axonal processes but they are very short and project randomly.

Flies expressing dppScer\UAS.cFa under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PH show induction of photoreceptor differentiation from the anterior margin of the eye disc.

The deformed, wrinkled wing phenotype seen in dppScer\UAS.cFa; Scer\GAL4Ser.PGF flies is completely suppresessed by TolloScer\UAS.cKa.

Coexpression of dppScer\UAS.cFa and vgScer\UAS.cKa, both under the control of Scer\GAL4bi-md653, leads to an enhancement of the haltere-to-wing transformation seen when either transgene is expressed alone. Almost all haltere cells are transformed to wing-type cells as seen by the large number of bristles and trichomes. The phenotype is fully penetrant in pharate adults and flies expressing both transgenes are lethal at the pharate adult stage.

Expression of dppScer\UAS.cFa, under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E, rescues the squamous cell phenotype in hhts2 wing and leg discs.

Flies expressing wgScer\UAS.cAa under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PH do not show photoreceptor development at the posterior of the eye disc. This phenotype is not rescued if the flies are also co-expressing dppScer\UAS.cFa. Flies expressing both dppScer\UAS.cFa and wgScer\UAS.cAa under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PP also do not show photoreceptor development at the posterior margin of the eye disc. The ectopic photoreceptor differentiation seen in flies expressing dppScer\UAS.cFa under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PH is not inhibited if the flies are also co-expressing wgScer\UAS.cAa. eyg1/Df(3L)iro-2 hemizygous eye discs completely lack photoreceptors. Photoreceptor development in these discs is not rescued by dppScer\UAS.cFa expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4dpp.PH.
