Drives expression in the ellipsoid body, and in a subset of ring neurons.

Expression is limited to just a few cell types. In the brain, expression is found in the ring neurons of the ellipsoid body, specifically in the R3 and R4 morphological subtypes. In addition, expression is observed in the lower section and ureter of the Malpighian tubules.

Adult expression is observed in a subset of ring neurons of the ellipsoid body. Representative images can be seen Figure 4 of FBrf0127414.

Adult expression is observed in R3 ring neurons and in the subset of R4 neurons that arborize in the distal part of the ellipsoid body.

In adult, expressed in the Malpighian tubules; expression confined to the proximal section of the main segment (the "lower tubule") and the ureter. Marks the lower tubule as a separate domain of the main segment.

Expression described as in the "lower tubule," the ureter-proximal portion of the Malpighian tubule.

Inhibition (using shi1.UAS at 32[o]C) of Scer\GAL4Alp4-c232 cells in adults does not affect startle-induced climbing behavior, compared to controls.

Thermogenetic activation (using TrpA1UAS.(B).cKa at 32[o]C) of Scer\GAL4Alp4-c232 cells in adults does not affect startle-induced climbing behavior, compared to controls.

Inhibition (using Hsap\KCNJ2AAE.UAS.EGFP) of Scer\GAL4Alp4-c232 cells in adults significantly reduces the preference to orient towards a dark vertical bar on the side where the same bar had not been shown previously, rather than a bar on the side where the same bar had been transiently shown previously, compared to controls; there is no effect on innate left/right preference between two dark vertical bars, or ability to orient towards a single bar, compared to controls.
