    Mutation is an in-frame deletion that begins at P130 and ends at D272. The deletion removes part of the second BIR domain but leaves the first BIR domain and the RING domain intact.

    11% of th7/th21-2s egg chambers have border follicle cell migration defects.

    When heterozygous mutants are UV irradiated a complete ablation of the eye is seen due to an increase in apoptotic cell death. This is a lot stronger than the phenotype seen in irradiated wild-type flies.

    Embryos show increased cell death as assessed by TUNEL staining. The onset of this apoptosis appears several hours after development arrests.
