Expression of wild-type trhScer\UAS.cWa in the eye, under the regulation of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF or Scer\GAL4elav-C155 does not have an affect on eye ommatidial arrangement.

When trhScer\UAS.cWa is expressed in the embryonic terminal regions by Scer\GAL4salm-459.2, extra tracheal pits are observed.

Early ubiquitous expression (driven by Scer\GAL4hs.2sev) results in the formation of extra tracheal pits, which go on to invaginate and migrate to form anterior and posterior lateral trunk branches. When driven by Scer\GAL469B or Scer\GAL4ptc-559.1 holes form in the epidermis.

Co-expression of wild-type tgoScer\UAS.cWa and trhScer\UAS.cWa in the developing eye imaginal disc under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF or Scer\GAL4elav-C155 results in a rough eye phenotype consisting of disruptions in the organisation of ommatidia and in mechanosensory bristles. Co-expression of tgoΔc.Scer\UAS and trhScer\UAS.cWa under the control of either Scer\GAL4GMR.PF or Scer\GAL4elav-C155 does not result in a rough eye phenotype.

Co-expression of trhScer\UAS.cWa and vvlScer\UAS.cBa under the control of Scer\GAL4salm-459.2 induces ectopic tracheal fate.
