Expression of either wgScer\UAS.cAa, under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PH, in L2/+ mutants results in a no eye phenotype, while small eyes are observed in both of the single mutants.
Coexpression of both wgScer\UAS.cAa and tshScer\UAS.cGa in clones under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI results in eye suppression in the dorsal eye disc. Coexpression of both wgScer\UAS.cAa and tshScer\UAS.cGa under the control of Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1 results in suppression of eye fate at the dorsal and ventral margins of the eye.
Flies expressing both wgScer\UAS.cAa and Dl::NΔECN.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PH show photoreceptor differentiation initiating all around the margins in the eye disc. Large pnrVX6 clones in the eye, which would be expected to produce an ectopic eye field in a wild-type background, show no photoreceptor differentiation in discs if they are also expressing wgScer\UAS.cAa under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PH.
The lack of photoreceptor development seen in flies expressing wgScer\UAS.cAa under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PH is not rescued if the flies are also co-expressing dppScer\UAS.cFa or tkvQ253D.Scer\UAS.cNb. Flies expressing both dppScer\UAS.cFa and wgScer\UAS.cAa under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PP also do not show photoreceptor development at the posterior margin of the eye disc. Photoreceptor differentiation and growth is rescued in flies expressing wgScer\UAS.cAa under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PH if they are also co-expressing Ras85DV12.Scer\UAS (strong rescue) or spis.Scer\UAS (weak rescue). Flies expressing dppScer\UAS.cFa under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PH show induction of photoreceptor differentiation from the anterior margin of the eye disc. This ectopic differentiation is not inhibited if the flies are also co-expressing wgScer\UAS.cAa.
