Detailed Description
| |||
Statement Reference Expression of shg[Scer\UAS.cSa], under the control of Scer\GAL4[e22c], results in clones that are apically constricted.
Somatic clones overexpressing shg[Scer\UAS.cSa] under the control of Scer\GAL4[vg.PM], separate from their neighbours and display smooth clone borders. Expression of shgScer\UAS.cSa under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.2sev in ommatidia at the time of rotation has no effect on eyes when expressed at moderate levels and causes epithelial defects at high levels.
The ommatidial under-rotation of Scer\GAL4hs.2sev>shgdCR3h.Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-rs eyes is suppressed in Scer\GAL4hs.2sev>shgdCR3h.Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-rs; Scer\GAL4hs.2sev>shgScer\UAS.cSa flies.
Expression of shgScer\UAS.cSa under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.2sev increases the number of ommatidial clusters that initiate rotation correctly in shgk03401 clones. Clones of follicle cells that are expressing shgScer\UAS.cSa under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PP can cause mislocalisation of the oocyte, and in these cases the mislocalised oocyte is always in contact with a cell or group of cells expressing shgScer\UAS.cSa under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PP. Expression of shgScer\UAS.cSa, under the control of Scer\GAL4elav-C155, does not suppress the R cell axon extension phenotype of Df(2L)CadNΔ14 clones. Expression of shgScer\UAS.cSa in outer border cells, driven by Scer\GAL4slbo.2.6, delays border cell migration and blocks their detachment from the anterior follicular epithelium. In shgScer\UAS.cSa; Scer\GAL4nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16 embryos, both the cell bodies and ensheathing cytoplasmic extensions of the somatic germ cell precursors are excluded from the cluster of germ cells. When shgScer\UAS.cSa is driven by Scer\GAL4btl.PS tracheal development appears unaffected. Cells of the optic placode maintain their epithelial shape but do not invaginate in embryos expressing shgScer\UAS.cSa under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32. The Bolwig's organ does not separate from the optic lobe, in contrast to wild type. Expression driven by Scer\GAL4en-e16E causes notching in the posterior compartment of the wing. Clones in the wing disc expressing shgScer\UAS.cSa under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PP form smooth borders with their neighbouring cells in both the anterior and posterior compartment. If in contact with each other, clones tend to fuse and interdigitate irrespective of the compartment boundary. When expression is driven in clones in the embryonic epidermis by Scer\GAL4αTub84B.PP, the response of the cells to wg is blocked and ectopic denticles result. When the clones fall within the normal denticle belt, normal denticles are formed. When expression is driven by Scer\GAL4en-e16E gaps in the wing margin occur. Scer\GAL4arm.T:Hsim\VP16 mediated expression causes a cuticle phenotype identical to wgl-17. Scer\GAL4en-e16E mediated expression causes loss of wing margin in the posterior compartment.

Genetic Interactions
| |||
Statement Reference Scer\GAL4[unspecified]-driven expression of shg[Scer\UAS.cSa] suppresses the loss of follicle stem cells in somatic clones of CycE[WX]. The extra secondary and tertiary pigment cell phenotype seen in the developing retinas of Csk[IR.Scer\UAS]; Scer\GAL4[GMR.PF] animals at 42 hours after puparium formation is suppressed by shg[Scer\UAS.cSa]. The inhibition of border cell migration seen in the ovaries of jara.Scer\UAS; Scer\GAL4slbo.2.6 flies is significantly suppressed by the presence of shghs.PW under heat shock condition (flies raised at 29oC and given a 1 hour heat shock at 37oC 6-10 hours prior to dissection.). Partial suppression is also seen in flies carrying slboScer\UAS.cLa or shgScer\UAS.cSa, but not Fak56DScer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1. The wing phenotype caused by shgScer\UAS.cSa expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E is exacerbated by heterozygosity for arm2 and suppressed by heterozygosity for nej3.
