Animals expressing inaC[PKCi.Scer\UAS] under the control of Scer\GAL4[MJ94] show a decreased response of the water cells (a specific class of taste receptor neurons) to hypo-osmotic stimuli but not to salts when compared to controls.
Flies expressing inaC[PKCi.Scer\UAS] under the control of Scer\GAL4[npf.1] are significantly more resistant to ethanol intoxication relative to paired controls. These flies develop ethanol tolerance to an even higher level than control flies. For example, the time required to anesthetize 50% of flies from ethanol-treated groups is consistently increased by about 1.4-fold relative to controls. The ethanol levels in these flies immediately after exposure to ethanol vapor is the same as in controls, indicating that the flies have similar absorption rates. Further, the turnover rates of ethanol in these flies is the same as controls.
When expression is governed by Scer\GAL4ptc-559.1 in apical cells in the ovary the cells show a migration defect. Though some migration does occur the cells do not migrate normally and show a rounded morphology.
Heat shocked males are tested for courtship conditioning. They are placed in the same chamber with an unreceptive mated female, males fail to exhibit the effects of conditioning, courtship to the mated females is not suppressed. Despite the failure to show immediate suppression of courtship they do develop normal memory of it. When placed with a virgin female they exhibit reduced courtship. Retention of conditioning is seen over 10 minutes or 2 hours. This result is comparable to non-heat shocked siblings. Males appear to be forming normal memory retention despite their failure to show any sign of associative learning while it is occurring.
Cell cultures expressing a low concentration of inaCPKCi.Scer\UAS show a significant decrease in the number of type I and II processes as compared to control cultures, while the proportion of neuroblasts, ganglion mother cells and mature neurons in the clusters are little affected.

Flies expressing inaC[PKCi.Scer\UAS] under the control of Scer\GAL4[Oamb.4.4] in a Oamb[unspecified] heterozygous background show wild type ovulation levels. Wild type ovulation levels are also seen when Scer\GAL80[ts.αTub84B] is used to limit expression to 3 days prior to mating.
