P{lacW} insertion in the 5' end of exon 1.
lethal | male (with bonS043420)
abdominal tergite & macrochaeta (with bonS048706)
pupal abdomen & cuticle (with bonS048706)
wing (with bonS048706)
Homozygous males die as first instar larvae, while homozygous females survive at least to the second larval instar stage. bonS024108/+ suppresses the variegation of the y gene in the P{SUPor-P}25-4-3 insertion.
34% of homozygotes survive to the pharate adult stage. bonS024108/bonS048706 pharate adults show defects in cuticle and bristle development; the abdominal cuticle is immature and the tergite and sternal bristles are severely reduced or absent. The anterior wing margin bristles are almost completely missing. There is a dramatic reduction in pigmentation of the wing cuticle.
Embryos exhibit two extra neurons located anteriorly to each dorsal cluster and one or two very large and round cells darkly stained with the MAb 22C10 are found posterior to the v' cluster.
bonS024108 has lethal | recessive | male | first instar larval stage phenotype, non-suppressible by Sxlf1
bonS024108/bon[+] is a suppressor | partially of lethal phenotype of ftz-f1ex17/Df(3L)Cat
bonS024108/bon[+] is a suppressor | partially of partially lethal | recessive phenotype of ftz-f1ex17
The lethality of bonS024108 homozygous males is not rescued if they are also carrying Sxlf1; no Sxlf1/Y ; bonS024108/bonS024108 male animals survive beyond the first larval instar.
70% of ftz-f1ex17/Df(3L)Cat animals are rescued to the pharate adult stage by one copy bonS024108. The number of homozygous ftz-f1ex17 adult escapers is increased by one copy of bonS024108 (60%).
bonS024108/bonS048706 is partially rescued by bonHsp83.Tag:FLAG
Allelic series: Df(3R)H-B79 > bon21B > bonS048706 > bonS024108 = bonS024912.
Δ2-3 induced reversion demonstrates the insertion is responsible for the lethal phenotype.
