As in wild-type, there is little variability in the time to peak of evoked ejcs in mutant boutons. There is a reduction in excitatory junctional current amplitude at the neuromuscular junction in mutant larvae.
Acetylcholine currents are reduced in peak amplitude in cultured Pka-R17I5 "giant" neurons. There are events with markedly slower kinetics of rise and decay compared to wild-type neurons. The frequency of spontaneous ACh release in these neurons is similar to wild type.
Specific defects in olfactory learning but not in subsequent memory decay.
Homozygotes perform abnormally in Pavlovian conditioning experiments. Initial learning levels are low. Subsequent memory decays are normal.
