Detailed Description
Statement

Sound-evoked compound action potentials in the antennal nerve are not significantly different from wild type in Cam5/Camn339 flies. However, nonlinear mechanical amplification is significantly increased compared to wild type.

Cam5 heterozygotes exhibit little effect on the average period of free-running.

Some hemizygotes reared separately from wild-type siblings survive to the adult stage. These mutants are ill coordinated and weak and do not live long as adults. Mutants perform very poorly in vortex, flight and climb tests. Transheterozygous combinations with other Cam mutations produces an incompletely penetrant ectopic wing vein phenotype and either lateral or bilateral cuticular 'scabs' on the notum.

Reference

A heterozygous Cam5 background in flies expressing Mmmm\PVScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL4P2.4.Pdf can result in lengthening of the free-running period, compared to controls, after 5 weeks in constant darkness.
