strongly inhibits proliferation of the imaginal myoblasts in the wing imaginal disc. The persistent thoracic larval muscles escape histolysis in these animals, as in wild-type development, but the larval muscles do not split during pupation, in contrast to wild-type. Few, if any, myoblasts are associated with the persistent larval muscles. Early metamorphic events in the larval motor nerves occur normally.
