Three days after induction, homozygous clones in the ovary are found to have proliferated like wild-type cells and do not induce any aberrant phenotypes. However, 8 days after induction the mutant clones are much smaller and are recovered at a much lower frequency than control clones. Approximately 10% of ovarioles include an enlarged germarial region 3 (indicative of arrested budding), compound egg chambers or closely apposed egg chambers with no stalk between them.
