Ectopic expression of Akt1Scer\UAS.cSa in the eye imaginal disc under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF increases the size of compound eyes.

Expression of Akt1Scer\UAS.cSa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF results in large eyes with larger ommatidia than normal.

Pupae expressing Akt1Scer\UAS.cSa under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.PB (using a 30 minute heat shock at 9 hours after puparium formation) do not have intact salivary glands at 20 hours after puparium formation (as occurs in wild-type animals).

Expression of Akt1Scer\UAS.cSa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF results in a significant increase in the area of the ommatidia compared to control flies.

The eye size increase observed in POSHScer\UAS.cSa egrScer\UAS.cMa (Scer\GAL4GMR.PF overexpression mutants is enhanced upon co-expression of Akt1Scer\UAS.cSa.

Overexpression of Akt1Scer\UAS.cSa with egrScer\UAS.cMa in the developing eye (all under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF) does not increase eye size.

Expression of Akt1Scer\UAS.cSa in animals expressing foxoGS9928 under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF completely suppresses the eye phenotype.

Co-expression of Akt1Scer\UAS.cSa almost completely rescues the eye phenotype caused by expression of foxoScer\UAS.cKa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF; the ommatidia and nearly all of the mechanosensory bristles are restored.
