Carried in a plasmid, cotransfected into S2* cells, and used in assays to determine the ability of the lic and Mkk4 proteins to activate p38b protein. The MAPK activity of the p38b protein from transfected S2* cells carrying p38bAct5C.T:Zzzz\FLAG which have been activated by lipopolysaccharide has been determined.
