dcoS/+ flies have a shortened circadian period.

In constant darkness, dcoEY02910/dcoS flies have a slightly shorter period compared to wild type.

dcoS heterozygous mutant lateral neurons show robust rhythms with a shortened period length.

Has no effect on the temperature compensation phenotypes of per+ or perL1 flies. Light pulse phase response curves for pers are similar to those of dcoS and substantially different from the wild-type phase response curves.

Mutants require a higher dose than wild-type to induce behavioural responses to cocaine exposure and do not show significant sensitization to a second exposure.

Dramatically shortens the behavioral period. Heterozygotes produce locomotor rhythms with an average period of 21.8 hr in DD conditions. Homozygotes produce locomotor rhythms with an average period of 18 hr in DD conditions. Flies can be entrained by an LD 12:12 cycle. Mutant phenotype is completely penetrant. The period of the eclosion rhythm is shorter than wild type.
