Expression of RbfScer\UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4bbg-C96 does not affect wing development. The level of apoptosis in larval wing discs is similar to controls.

Expression of RbfScer\UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4vg.PM results in wing notches. Ectopic wing tissue is not observed, even when the dose and temperature are increased.

Flies expressing RbfScer\UAS.cDa ubiquitously under the control of Scer\GAL4da.PU are viable and exhibit wing notches. The level of apoptosis in larval wing discs is increased compared to controls, except in the center of the wing pouch.

When RbfScer\UAS.cDa is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4ptc.PU the level of proliferation is unchanged from controls.

When RbfScer\UAS.cDa is expressed in 'undead cells' (using BacA\p35Scer\UAS.cHa) under the control of Scer\GAL4vg.PM very little wing overgrowth is observed at 25[o]C, although some overgrowth is seen at 29[o]C.

Expression of RbfScer\UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PH results in a small eye phenotype.

Overexpression of RbfScer\UAS.cDa, under the regulation of Scer\GAL4sca-537.4 does not alter glial-neuronal expression patterns in the NB6-4t lineage. Ectopic expression of RbfScer\UAS.cDa, under the regulation of Scer\GAL4sca-537.4 leads to a reduction of neurons in some thoracic segments (45%), but no homeotic transformation.

Expression of RbfScer\UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4vg.PM results in notching of the posterior wing margin. Expression of RbfScer\UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.PB results in atrophic or missing bristles on the adult cuticle.

When RbfScer\UAS.cDa is driven by Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1, wing phenotypes are seen, the anterior crossvein fails to form and the submarginal cell is reduced in size.

When RbfScer\UAS.cDa is driven by Scer\GAL4hs.PH during pupal development, abdominal development is significantly delayed. The number of mitoses seen in these abdominal cells is greatly increased, but no abnormalities in centrosome number or spindle morphology are seen.

RbfScer\UAS.cDa driven by Scer\GAL4ey.PH leads to a small eye phenotype.

Expression of RbfScer\UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PH results in smaller third larval instar eye discs than normal and eyes which are reduced in size. Flies expressing RbfScer\UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.2sev have wild-type eyes. Expression of RbfScer\UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E results in reduced cell division in the posterior compartment of the wing.

Expression of RbfScer\UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PH results in small abnormally shaped eyes.

Expression of RbfScer\UAS.cDa in clones (driven by Scer\GAL4Act5C.PP) significantly increases cell doubling times. When driven by Scer\GAL4hs.2sev or Scer\GAL4GMR.PF no eye phenotype is seen. When driven by Scer\GAL4ey.PH, severely reduced eyes are seen.

Expression of RbfScer\UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PP in clones in the imaginal discs slows all phases of the cell cycle, resulting in large cells with extended doubling times. Co-expression of RbfScer\UAS.cDa and Ras85DV12.Scer\UAS has an additive effect on cell size.

The average cell doubling time in wing disc cells expressing RbfScer\UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PP is lengthened to 18.5 hours (compared to 12 hours for wild-type cells). The average duration of cell cycle phases in these cells is: G1 = 4.1 hours, S = 9.8 hours and G2 = 4.6 hours (wild-type values are G1 = 3.4 hours, S = 4.4 hours and G2 = 4.2 hours). The size of the posterior compartment of wing discs expressing RbfScer\UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E is not significantly different from wild-type wing discs.

The inhibitory effect on cell cycle rates of RbfScer\UAS.cDa expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PP in clones is not suppressed by co-expression of Ras85DV12.Scer\UAS.

The effects caused by RbfScer\UAS.cDa on cell cycle phasing, cell numbers and cell size are dominant to effects caused by E2fScer\UAS.cNa when they are co-expressed using Scer\GAL4en-e16E. stgScer\UAS.cNa and CycEScer\UAS.cLa bypass the effects of RbfScer\UAS.cDa on cell cycle phasing, cell numbers and cell size when they are both co-expressed with RbfScer\UAS.cDa using Scer\GAL4en-e16E. 77 hour old clones expressing RbfScer\UAS.cDa and BacA\p35Scer\UAS.cHa under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E (induced early in wing disc development) are roughly half the size of control clones.
