Statement
Reference
Expression of dsh[hs.sev.B] results in ommatidial orientation defects in the eye.
Expression of dsh[hs.sev.B] results in 42% of adult ommatidia having a symmetrical arrangement.
Ommatidial arrangement is disrupted due to overactivation of planar polarity signalling.
Eyes of flies raised at 29oC show disruption of ommatidial arrangement with random or no chirality and misrotations of single ommatidia.

Statement
Reference
The dsh[hs.sev.B] gain-of-function planar cell polarity (PCP)-phenotype is markedly suppressed by the expression of CG15283[GD13108] via Scer\GAL4[hs.2sev].
One copy of kay[1], kay[ED6315], Jra[1] or Jra[IA109] suppresses the formation of symmetrical ommatidia that is seen in animals expressing dsh[hs.sev.B]. One copy of aop[yan-XE18] or aop[e2d] partially suppresses the formation of symmetrical ommatidia that is seen in animals expressing dsh[hs.sev.B].
The eye phenotype seen in dshhs.sev.B flies is dominantly enhanced by the addition of exe1 due to an increase in unscorable ommatidia (missing one or more photoreceptors.
The tissue polarity phenotype of flies carrying dshhs.sev.B is dominantly enhanced by N264-39 or DlRevF10; the percentage of symmetrical ommatidia containing an R3/R3 pair in the normal R3/R4 position is increased.
The ommatidial polarity defects seen in dshhs.sev.B flies grown at 29oC can be dominantly suppressed by the addition of hepr75, msn102, msn172, bsk2, Df(1)H6, Df(1)G24, Df(2L)flp170B, Df(3R)crb87-4, Df(2L)b80e3, Df(3R)p13, Df(3R)crb-F89-4 and Df(2L)b87e25. Between 70-90% of ommatidia are in their correct polarity, compared with 55% in dshhs.sev.B alone. The ommatidial polarity defects seen in dshhs.sev.B flies grown at 29oC are not suppressed by the addition of dock3.
