Drives expression in the alpha and beta lobes of the mushroom body.

ScerGAL417d shows strong expression in the central core of mushroom body alpha/beta neurons.

ScerGAL417d is expressed in the mushroom body alpha and beta lobes and weakly in some cells of the pars intercerebralis.

Detailed Description

Optogenetic stimulation (using Npha\HRe.UAS.cBa.YFP or Npha\HRUAS.cLa.EYFP with 593 nm (yellow) light activation) of Scer\GAL417d neurons significantly impairs visual short term memory following training with pain stimulus in adult flies, compared to controls; this effect is not seen when expression is restricted to a smaller subset of cells using Scer\GAL80Mef2.mb247.

Blocking the output (using shits.UAS.cUa at 30[o]C or Ctet\TeTxLCUAS.cUa) of Scer\GAL417d neurons does not affect visual short term memory following training with pain stimulus in adult flies, compared to controls.

Inhibition (using shi1.UAS at 33[o]C) of Scer\GAL417d cells in adults does not significantly affect aversive 1-min visual or olfactory memory, compared to controls.
