Posterior dorsocentral bristle neurons expressing sktlUAS.cHa under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 show a significantly decreased terminal arbor territory, as compared to controls.
When expression is driven by an elav-Scer\GAL4, no phenotype results. When expression is driven by Scer\GAL4da.G32 or a heat shock Scer\GAL4, no phenotype results but early larval lethality results. When expression is driven by Scer\GAL4T80 third instar larval lethality results. Expression driven by Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1 causes no eye phenotype but ectopic bristles on the notum and wing blade. When expression is driven by Scer\GAL432B ectopic bristles appear on the notum and wing blade. The ectopic bristles as well as the normal bristles show structural defects consistent with a role for sktl in the cytoskeleton. All ectopic bristles are associated with socket cells.
