Nipped-B292.1/+ adult females have smaller wings compared to wild-type.

Nipped-B292.1/+ males show more modest reduction in courtship attempts toward an unreceptive female over time compared to wild-type controls, and thusly conditioned heterozygote mutant male does not display reduced courting toward a receptive female as is observed in wild-type, suggesting defects in learning and short-term memory. Nipped-B292.1/+ adult males also display morphological mushroom body defects with high frequency compared to controls.

Nipped-B292.1/+ adult females sleep less overall than controls and this is due to reduced daytime sleep (shorter length of each sleep episode). The percentage of females showing arrhythmic circadian activity pattern is slightly higher than in controls but there is no significant difference in males.

Nipped-B292.1/+ mutant adults do not display any seizure-like behaviors in response to either mechanical or thermal stress.

Chromosome cores and the synaptonemal complex fragment in germarial region 3 or stage 2 oocytes in Nipped-B292.1 heterozygotes, which is substantially earlier than in wild type.

Nipped-B292.1 heterozygotes do not show meiotic chromosome segregation defects.

50% of metaphase nuclei in the brains of Nipped-B292.1/Nipped-B02047 second instar larvae show precocious sister chromatid separation, in which the centromeric regions of the sister chromatids are somewhat detached from each other.

Recessive lethality acts at the L2-L3 molt.

Dominantly enhances the cut wing phenotype of ctL32, su(Hw)e2. Dominantly enhances the bithorax phenotype of Ubxbx-34e, su(Hw)e2. Shows slight dominant suppression of Nnd-1 wing nick phenotype. Has no effect on the bristle phenotype of Nspl-1, but suppresses the eye phenotype.
