DfdScer\UAS.cBa; Scer\GAL4prd.RG1 embryos form ectopic maxillary structures (rostral hairs and, occasionally, sclerotized rod-like structures) in the trunk cuticle. These ectopic structures develop near the Keilin's Organ primordia in the thoracic segments and in analogous positions in the abdominal segments. In discoM.Scer\UAS; Scer\GAL4prd.RG1 embryos the segments expressing disco do not complete dorsal closure. The affected segments are curved and resemble the gnathal lobes. In addition, the dorsal ridge is reduced in these embryos. In stage 13 discoM.Scer\UAS; Scer\GAL4prd.RG1 embryos, dorsal tracheal cells and oenocytes are missing in the segments ectopically expressing disco. The trunk sensilla and and associated neurons are remodeled in these embryos: chordotonal organs are absent, dorsal and ventral sensory organ groups are shifted and segmental/intersegmental neurons do not extend as far dorsally as in wild-type.

Expression of DfdScer\UAS.cBa under the control of Scer\GAL4sca-537.4 results in a mutant phenotype in the embryonic tritocerebrum. The phenotype has a penetrance of more than 70-80%.

Expression of DfdScer\UAS.cBa under the control of Scer\GAL4lab.PH does not result in morphological defects in the tritocerebrum or any other part of the embryonic brain.

When DfdScer\UAS.cBa is driven by Scer\GAL4how-24B, no homeosis in the abdomen is seen. These animals show reduced gastric caecum development at parasegment 3.

When driven by Scer\GAL469B, Scer\GAL4prd.RG1, or Scer\GAL4l(3)31-1-31-1 leads to a significant loss in viability.

Head involution fails in Dfd12/Df(3R)Scr embryos expressing DfdScer\UAS.cBa under the control of Scer\GAL469B and the posterior mouthparts fail to form. These embryos die without hatching.

Addition of DfdScer\UAS.cBa to Dfd16;Scr4 double mutant embryos (under the control of Scer\GAL4salm-459.2) results in both the Mx and Lb segments forming corpora allata.
