Similar to wild type, midline glia are able to ensheath the axon commissures and extend membrane projections into the commissures in stage 15 embryos expressing runScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4sim.P3.7.

Expression of runScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4MT14 results in the disappearance of the lamina plexus in the optic lobe of larvae, due to the axons of photoreceptors R2-R5 terminating in the medulla (normally they terminate at the lamina plexus).

Expression of runScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4nos.PG results in lethality in the blastoderm embryo.

runScer\UAS.cLa (Scer\GAL4nos.PG) embryos that are also heterozygous for Df(2L)C144 show a significant increase in viability from approximately 3% to approximately 100%.

runScer\UAS.cLa (Scer\GAL4nos.PG) embryos that are also heterozygous for Df(2L)JS32 show a significant increase in viability from approximately 3% to approximately 34%.
